During the Day, successful case histories will be described as concrete examples and the focus will be put on new methods for creating, managing, and distributing ebook digital publishing contents and more.

INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE ON DIGITAL PUBLISHING

The 2011 edition: the two-day event will take place on 9-10 June immediately following the UNESCO Forum and under the patronage of the Region of Lombardy. These two initiatives will be jointly promoted by the AIE and the Regional administration.

The first day will be dedicated to the international conference, while the second day will be dedicated to a seminar focusing on the analysis of the new release of the EPUB 3, which is to be launched by the IDPF just a few days before the Book Expo America.

First day 9 June: the international conference. Two conferences are planned for the opening and closing of the plenary sessions: the first one will be dedicated to the analysis and debate among a panel of European CEOs on the prospects of evolution of the digital market in the United States and Europe, while the second one will focus on the evolution of distribution channels along with the increase in the online sales of books and in the sales of digital books.

The middle of the day will instead feature parallel sessions dealing with the problems plaguing different market sections.

All the sessions will be opened by a presentation outlining the scenario of reference and describing a series of case histories that will present successful innovative experiences by international operators.

For the time being, the sessions are entitled as follows:

  • Educational worlds: dealing with the aspects tied to the evolution of the use of technologies in the schools and changes going on in the text book market as well as problems linked to the university and professional market.
  • Narrative worlds: focusing on fiction and non-fiction, with particular attention paid to the new forms of writing and socialisation of publishing products, as well as the ongoing changes in communication and marketing strategies, even for traditional paper products.
  • Creative worlds: dedicated to the world of applications and everything else that revolves around it in terms of communication and marketing planning.
  • Economic and productive worlds: taking into consideration the economic and productive aspects of the various publishing products and their sustainability over time.

Second day 10 June: updating seminar on the new EPUB 3 standard specifications. The EPUB 3 will enable the creation of new interactive and multimedia products.
